We just published a video, and I think it’s the most important one we’ve made.
It’s about the surge in Gen Z Catholics. The average American diocese saw a 38% increase in people entering the Church at Easter this year, and Los Angeles saw 139%. But it’s not really a trend piece.
The argument we make is this: Gen Z is the first generation to grow up in a fully post-Christian world. Modernity promised them freedom, meaning, pleasure, and self-definition. They tested all of it. It didn’t work.
So now they’re looking for something real. And when you strip away everything modern, you’re basically left with two options: Catholicism or paganism. The explosion of TikTok witchcraft and the explosion of Catholic conversions are driven by the same impulse — just pointed in different directions.
That’s the thesis. The video runs about ten minutes and pulls in Tom Holland, Paul Kingsnorth, Louise Perry, and an argument for why embodied, liturgical religion answers something modernity simply can’t.
