As this website has been emphasizing for some 5 years and in so many ways, the decline of the humanities and reading is very alarming. Arthur Frank Holmes “served in the Royal Air Force during World War II. He was an English philosopher who “served as Professor of Philosophy at Wheaton College in Illinois, US from 1951 to 1994…He built the philosophy department at Wheaton where he taught, wrote about the philosophy of Christian education, and participated in the creation of the Society of Christian Philosophers.[1]  Holmes died in Wheaton, Illinois, on October 8, 2011, at age 87
