Something has been going on.
The Antichristic has manifest itself and shadowed the Cross in every age of the Church. Our era is hardly an exception. The war on the moral and natural laws today is ominous. And, be it near or far, we may be approaching times even more difficult.
“And what I say to you I say to all: Watch.” (Mark 13:37)
That is Christ’s warning, not mine. Catholics and other believers who resist evils today and who try to explain why on the Internet— make no mistake about it in this age of total surveillance—are very possibly writing (2) their own future indictments. Therefore those Christians who get all giddy boasting of how many people watch, “subscribe to,” or listen to their “shows” are … well… dangerous to themselves and to others.
Tribulation and Christ’s Peace Are Not Opposites.
There are no easy answers or options. Nothing was easy at the foot of the Cross. Nor can it be easy for us in the face of the crucifixion of the Church which we have lived to behold. We can only strive to be courageous and remain —or get into— a state of grace.
“I have said this to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” — Jn. 16:33
“…this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.“— John 3:19, 20
We must pray for the grace to become wiser, because,
“Who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”— Rev. 13 – 3,4.
+ The Faustian Face of Modern Science
The Internet is filled with false promises and directions. It is a minefield of spiritually lethal traps. We need to carefully limit our time on it. This anxiety, all these uncertainties too are signs of the Antichristic, New Time. The Antichristic always shadows Christ. And, because we have been told this from the beginning, we should not be overly surprised. Christ is the Alpha and Omega of history. He will provide us with the graces needed in every circumstance if we cooperate with Him and refuse all false directions. It is up to us to discern it, receive it, and not flee this Cross as we may have done in the past. If it is not heavy it is not the cross which our Lord tells us to carry, daily. We are playing for keeps now, God help us.
No politician, however charismatic, or political ideology will save us. We need to be wary of it all. Power ofter lies. Deceptions abound. Because truths are easily mixed with falsehoods in our time and everything that can be shaken will be shaken.
“For the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.” — Lk 16:8
Especially in so-called Democracies controlled by pressures from behind the scenes, what may appear to be a victory today is likely to be handed over to the “opposing” side and reversed in a few years. Meanwhile what appears to be the “rule of law” in Democracies may be only chimerical, as evolution (constantly evolving law) may in fact be the only real law, proceeding to an unknown end.
“Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his arm, whose heart turns away from the Lord.” (Jeremiah 17:5)
“Therefore if they say to you, ‘Behold, He is in the wilderness,’ do not go forth; or ‘Behold, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe.” (Matthew 24:26).
Seeking Salvation Political Ideologies and Parties
We were never promised lasting political victories. We must as spiritual beings look back and see where went wrong in the past and stay as close as we can to His Word and Sacraments, trusting always in His mercy, forgiveness, and will to save all.
It is salvation we must seek, blessed union with Our Lord Jesus Christ. This is the prize which all nations and persons must seek. Not mere power or riches. Our Lord showed us this very early and clearly in His desert temptations.
We must look back and see how we as persons may have gone spiritually wrong in the past and stay as close as we can to His Word and Sacraments, obeying His commandments, trusting always in His mercy, His forgiveness, and His will to save all persons of good will.
Especially in this age of wall-to-wall media deceptions!
From nihilist man(3) we can expect only “progress” (so-called), syncretism, relativism, pluralism, subjectivism, “signs and lying wonders”. Very likely technological signs and wonders today, and with greater insistence that Science (so-called) and Mr. Darwin’s imaginative philosophy are the only final truths.
God’s answer is ever the same. “For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness” — 1 Cor. 3:19
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever“— Heb. 13:7
1 Jn 6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not live according to the truth; 7 but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”
Christians are those who confess their failings, do penance, and “press on” to our higher heavenly calling in Christ.
“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”—Col. 3:2
Pope St. Pius X at the very dawn of the 20th century urgently warned,
“The nations have raged and the peoples imagined vain things” (Ps. ii., 1.) against their Creator, so frequent is the cry of the enemies of God: “Depart from us” (Job. xxi., 14). And as might be expected we find extinguished among the majority of men all respect for the Eternal God, and no regard paid in the manifestations of public and private life to the Supreme Will — nay, every effort and every artifice is used to destroy utterly the memory and the knowledge of God.

When all this is considered there is good reason to fear lest this great perversity may be as it were a foretaste, and perhaps the beginning of those evils which are reserved for the last days; and that there may be already in the world the “Son of Perdition” of whom the Apostle speaks (II. Thess. ii., 3). Such, in truth, is the audacity and the wrath employed everywhere in persecuting religion, in combating the dogmas of the faith, in brazen effort to uproot and destroy all relations between man and the Divinity! While, on the other hand, and this according to the same apostle is the distinguishing mark of Antichrist, man has with infinite temerity put himself in the place of God, raising himself above all that is called God; in such wise that although he cannot utterly extinguish in himself all knowledge of God, he has contemned God’s majesty and, as it were, made of the universe a temple wherein he himself is to be adored. “He sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself as if he were God” (II. Thess. ii., 2).
6. Verily no one of sound mind can doubt the issue of this contest between man and the Most High. Man, abusing his liberty, can violate the right and the majesty of the Creator of the Universe; but the victory will ever be with God — nay, defeat is at hand at the moment when man, under the delusion of his triumph, rises up with most audacity. Of this we are assured in the holy books by God Himself. Unmindful, as it were, of His strength and greatness, He “overlooks the sins of men” (Wisd. xi., 24), but swiftly, after these apparent retreats, “awaked like a mighty man that hath been surfeited with wine” (Ps. Ixxvii., 65), “He shall break the heads of his enemies” (Ps. Ixvii., 22), that all may know “that God is the king of all the earth” (Ib. It is the presuppositions which inform speculative science which worry, not the physical empirical practice seen in the “hard sciences”. Build a better mouse trap and people are with science, but talk about brain implants, multiverse theory* or “assisted” suicide and reasonable, good people back off. Let’s begin by telling us what “science” thinks a human being is. Does the definition proceed from atheist or theist presuppositions? Science must tell us where it begins before we listen to where everyone “should” end. We will then examine the continuum of its processes towards conclusions.
