Not Ethnicity or Race, Not Blood and Soil…

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise.   Galatians 3:28-29

Not a few on the political far Right, alas, seem to put ethnicity and race, and / or blood and soil, above all things, making these concepts ultimate, above all ideas, beliefs, ideology and even, in the extreme, metaphysics. They make it all the sine qua non of national life.

So it is not surprising that these over time develop a distaste for traditional biblical Christianity, substituting other ideological constructs in its place, even attempting to cover alien quasi-racist ideas under new umbrella concepts, often quasi-theosophical, like logos, perrenialism, Jungian syncretism and the like.

They don’t seem to care that Christ bids us to invite all, Greek, Roman, Jew, African, everyone, into His fraternal love, His Eucharistic Ekklesia and Credo. — Matthew 11:28-30

Race and ethnicity can never be an exclusionary principle among the baptized who have put on Christ, who put aside as incidental all mere external characteristics which are, theologically speaking, accidents of birth.

Baptism makes all believers equal (“one” as) sons and daughters of the second birth, of water and of the Spirit.

And we have been given a new Commandment, to love one another as He loved us and gave Himself for us, unto death on the Cross. — Phil 2:5-11

What does divide the peoples of the earth regrettably is not ethnicity and race but belief and unbelief in the Person, teachings and Saving deeds of our Lord Jesus Christ.

For he is our peace, who has made us both one, and has broken down the dividing wall of hostility, 15 by abolishing in his flesh the law of commandments and ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, 16 and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby bringing the hostility to an end. 17 And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near; 18 for through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.” —Ephesians 2
