Cardinal Gerhard Mueller on  Misunderstandings of Liturgical Substance and Unity

In this interesting interview, despite the heading given by Maike Hickson, Cardinal Gerhard Mueller says he believes Pope Benedict XVI understood liturgical development in the context of sacred Tradition correctly, without prejudice to previous expressions of the same sacred Sacrifice. Diversity of rites have always existed side by side in the Church. Müller accepts diversity of languages at Mass so long as the substance and ends of the holy sacrifice are jealously preserved; he also discusses the Ukraine and the Holy Land wars and the possibility of the outbreak of World War Three.

Gerhard Ludwig Müller is a German cardinal of the Catholic Church. He served as the Cardinal-Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) from his appointment by Pope Benedict XVI in 2012 until 2017. Pope Francis elevated him to the rank of cardinal in 2014.
