The doctrine of Christ surpasses all the doctrines of the saints

The Imitation of Christ, and the Contempt of All the Vanities of the World. Ch. 1. HE that followeth me, walketh not in dark-saith our Lord. Jn 8:12. These are the words of Christ, by which we are admonished, that we must imitate his life and manners, if we would be truly enlightened, and delivered… Read More The doctrine of Christ surpasses all the doctrines of the saints

An Incomparable Book for Our Time. Divine Intimacy.

Divine Intimacy by Father Gabriel of St. Mary Magdalen, O.C.D. It Is Worth It’s Weight in Spiritual Gold. It is not ordinary. It does not allow us to evade the Cross, yet it does not leave us discouraged and without abundant spiritual comfort. Brother Lawrence and the Presence of God

“The first time I saw Brother Lawrence, was upon the 3d of August, 1666. He told me that GOD had done him a singular favor, in his conversion at the age of eighteen. That in the winter, seeing a tree stripped of its leaves, and considering that within a little time the leaves would be… Read More Brother Lawrence and the Presence of God

What makes a woman attractive?

A friend from India tells of a beautiful story. “Today I came across a beautiful story that defines what truly makes a woman attractive. While some might say it’s her eyes, her facial features, or her overall appearance, this story captures the essence of real beauty and attraction. In Darkness, A Light Too Bright for Our Eyes

“If You wish me to be in darkness, I shall bless You. And if You wish me to be in light, again I shall bless You. What is Monied “News” Consumption Doing to Us?

“…recent changes to the way everyone gets their news—coupled with the style of news that dominates today—may not be good for mental and even physical health. “The way that news is presented and the way that we access news has changed significantly over the last 15 to 20 years,” says Graham Davey, a professor emeritus… Read More What is Monied “News” Consumption Doing to Us?

Every man naturally desires knowledge

The Imitation of Christ, Thomas a Kempis. “All men naturally desire to know; but what good is knowledge without the fear of God? Indeed a humble husbandman who serves God is better than a proud philosopher who neglects his soul to study the course of the stars. He who knows himself well becomes mean in… Read More Every man naturally desires knowledge

The First Purification. By St. Francis de Sales.

“THE first purification to be made is from mortal sin. The means whereby to make it is the sacrament of penance. Seek the best confessor within your reach, use one of the many little books [if needed] written in order to help the examination of conscience. Read some such book carefully, examining point by point… Read More The First Purification. By St. Francis de Sales.

St. Francis de Sales on Spiritual Self-knowledge

“We are surprised at falling: an evident mark that we scarcely know ourselves. We ought, on the contrary, to be surprised at not falling more frequently, and into more grievous faults, and to return thanks to God for the dangers from which He preserves us. We are troubled every time that we are beguiled into… Read More St. Francis de Sales on Spiritual Self-knowledge

Seeing The First time

Day after day a million confused emotions ebbed and flowed and sometimes clashed within him. After a time, when he had come to feel particularly ill, and knew that he would soon be placing himself into Hospice, he wondered what he should do at last. It is said that there are two kinds of people:… Read More Seeing The First time

The Bride and the Dragon
Rev. 12: 3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. 4 Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the heavens and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. Confess the Faith, "in season and out". [2 Tim.4:2; Rom.10:9].
