“For the Son of man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” — Mark 10:45
It is common today to see Progressives masking their will-to-power in the language of service, ministry. Today we see the phenomenon of women even seeking the “priestly ministry,” even not a few lesbians in the tradition of Mary Daly who work tirelessly to that end.
But women have everything when as lay witnesses they have and know the Gospel of Jesus Christ and share its glad tidings with those who are searching, and especially with those languishing in pain and spiritual despair. Only ideology makes Progressive women “demand” power in the Church and manipulate their way towards it.
We as Christians are all called to something far more humble, whether the venue for our witness be large or small (like this website). We (male and female) are called to renounce power, never to try to seize it by manipulations and schemes which are opposite to the Cross of Jesus Christ. We mustn’t forget that it was Satan himself who first sought to seize power and control for himself. And all of his revolutionary followers have followed suit.
What is our calling, then, as witnesses to what Christ is doing in us?
“Sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to give an answer to every man who asketh you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear” [of missing the mark of being, the Goal of existence] 1 Peter 3:15.
One thing is clear. We certainly don’t need that which the Scriptures forbid, e.g, women priests (or deacons when viewed as cynical steps to the forbidden).
Listen here to a young, contentedly lay woman who is fulfilling the calling of all women and men to in some way, “give an answer” of hope and salvation to as many as possible. –SH.
