Then Satan entered into him. John 13:27

“The third temptation in which Satan asked Christ to adore him and all the kingdoms of the world would be given Him, is the temptation to have a new religion without a Cross, a liturgy without a world to come, a religion to destroy a religion, or a politics which is a religion — one that renders unto Caesar even the things that are God’s.

In the midst of all his seeming love for humanity and his glib talk of freedom and equality, he [the foretold Antichrist] will have one great secret which he will tell to no one: he will not believe in God. Because his religion will be brotherhood without the fatherhood of God, he will deceive even the elect. He will set up a counterchurch which will be the ape of the Church, because he, the Devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the Antichrist that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ 

Judas And Social Justice

You love your neighbor, why do you not love God?

“What our Lord says to Judas, he says to the world today: You seemingly are very interested in social justice. Why are you not concerned about individual justice? 

This is the attitude of the world today. We have swung away from a period in which we were concerned with individual sanctification to the neglect of the social order.  Now we have gone to the extreme of being immersed with social justice, civil rights, and so forth, and we are not the least bit concerned about individual justice and the duty of paying honor and glory to God. 

If you march with a banner, if you protest, then your life may be impure, alcoholic, anything you please. That does not matter. [i.e., The Social Justice pretense too often becomes a cover for personal moral, spiritual and theological collapse — SH]

Note: There certainly are social implications of the Gospel but these cannot be found when the Gospel is transvalued into a variety of condemned Marxist or related cultural analyses, or when any politics eclipses the Name, saving work, and Gospel of Jesus Christ — SH

Still, we are taught there can never be another, new “Church” alongside the only  true, visible and hierarchical Church which has always existed, the Church which Our Lord bequeathed to mankind, even if heresies may fester in persons within, sometimes in great numbers and for long periods as in the terrible Arian crisis of old. God forbid that we ever flee the Cross and the Church’s sorrowful passion. As St. Augustine said,

“…no man ought to sever himself from the unity of the Church before the time of the final separation of the just and unjust, merely because of the admixture of evil men in the Church” —Saint Augustine, On Baptism, Against the Donatists, Bk. IV, The Complete Works of Saint Augustine. Ch.12.19, (1407). Emphasis added.
